The Fafali Organization is thrilled to announce that Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation (CMF) has become the first organization to sponsor our Dreams & Themes Christmas Project under the Funnest Sponsor category, contributing an incredible GHS 5,000 to make this year’s event unforgettable!

This milestone is particularly special as it marks the first time since the inception of the Dreams & Themes Christmas Project that a sponsor has taken up an official sponsorship category, setting a historic precedent for future partnerships.

But CMF’s generosity doesn’t stop there. After committing to the sponsorship, CMF has gone above and beyond by continuing to raise additional funds to support our Christmas Project, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to bringing joy and hope to underserved children this festive season.

Who is Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation?

Founded in July 2019, CMF is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to the memory of Charlotte, the late mother of the foundation’s founder. CMF is driven by a mission to promote gender equality and empower girls and women in Ghana through education, advocacy, and community development initiatives.

CMF’s Vision:
A society where girls and women in Ghana have equal opportunities, rights, and respect, and can reach their full potential.

Over the years, CMF has undertaken impactful projects, including the distribution of “Dignity Packs” to support girls in underserved areas, promoting reading habits through book drives, and providing skills training for young women to achieve financial independence. Their dedication to empowering communities and fostering growth aligns perfectly with the Fafali Organization’s mission of transforming lives through education, sports, and community development.

Why This Sponsorship Matters

CMF’s generous support will bring joy to over 800 underserved children this Christmas, providing meals, drinks, gifts, and a festive experience they might not otherwise have. Their contribution demonstrates the power of partnerships and the extraordinary difference organizations can make when they come together to uplift communities.

By not only sponsoring but also continuing to raise additional funds, CMF has set a powerful example of what true partnership looks like—turning dreams into reality for hundreds of children.

A Partnership for the Future

Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation has long been a champion of transformative initiatives, and we are honored to have them as a key partner for this year’s Dreams & Themes Christmas Project. Their impactful work across the Central, Greater Accra, and Volta Regions continues to empower women and children, and this partnership is a testament to their commitment to creating a brighter future for underserved communities.

As CMF celebrates its 6th year of operations, we are proud to walk alongside them in this shared journey of impact and transformation.

Join Us in Thanking CMF

We invite you to join us in celebrating Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation for their incredible generosity and commitment to social change. Their partnership ensures that this year’s Christmas Project will leave a lasting mark on the lives of hundreds of children.

Let’s continue building on this momentum!

Together, we are creating a holiday season filled with hope, joy, and love.

We look forward to continuing our journey of using golf to transform lives and create pathways out of poverty for underserved children. Congratulations to all our young champions for their incredible achievements, and thank you to everyone who continues to believe in and support our mission.

Fafali Organization is proud to announce that Julienne Afi Amezado, one of our junior golfers, has been crowned the Queen of Golf of the Ashanti Kingdom following her outstanding victory at the 67th Asantehene Open Golf Championship! This prestigious event took place from November 6th to 9th, 2024, at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, where Afi’s two-day performance earned her this distinguished title in the Championship Ladies category.

Afi’s journey to victory has been inspiring, with this tournament adding to an impressive series of achievements. She recently returned from the UK, where she competed in several international tournaments and made a name for herself by winning the US Kids Golf Series at Chesfield Downs Golf Club with her best UK score of 74 gross, including four birdies. She also secured her first international win at the Manor of Groves US Series Junior Open and gained valuable experience as a VIP guest at The Betfred British Masters.

In Kumasi, Afi continued her streak of exceptional performance, scoring an 87 on Day 1 and finishing with an impressive 82 on Day 2. Her unwavering focus, discipline, and tenacity on the course captured the admiration of spectators, competitors, and coaches alike. Accompanied by CEO Senyo Sosu, Girls Empowerment Coordinator Ivy Theodore, and Senior Coach John Nyanu Kwashie, Afi demonstrated what it means to be a true champion—humble, determined, and resilient.

“Afi’s victory is a moment of pride not only for Fafali but for all who believe in the potential of our youth,” shared Raymond Amezado, Founder and President of the Fafali Organization. “She has shown us that with support, guidance, and dedication, young talent can indeed rise to great heights.”

The pinnacle of this triumph came during the awards ceremony at the famous Manhyia Palace, where Afi received her honors in the presence of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. As a young golfer, it was especially inspiring for Afi to receive such a distinguished award from the Ashanti King, a moment that will remain a highlight of her journey.

The Fafali Golf & Goal Project, which operates at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, provides underprivileged children like Afi with access to golf, fostering qualities such as resilience, discipline, and confidence. Through the project, young golfers are encouraged to value their education, especially in STEM fields, and are empowered to pursue their dreams both academically and athletically.

Afi’s crowning as Queen of Golf is a proud moment for Fafali and its supporters, affirming the success of our program and the dedication of our students. “This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible donors, sponsors, and supporters,” said Fafali’s CEO, Senyo Sosu. “To everyone who has believed in Afi’s journey and helped us create this platform for growth—thank you. Your support is shaping the future of young talent in Ghana.”

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Achimota Golf Club for providing the space for our young athletes to train and grow, and to all our supporters for their unwavering dedication. Congratulations to Afi, the Queen of Golf of the Ashanti Kingdom!

The 67th Asantehene Open Golf Championship, one of Ghana’s most prestigious golfing events, held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi from November 6th to 9th, featured remarkable young talent from the Fafali Golf & Goal Project. This year, two of Fafali’s promising junior golfers, 16-year-olds Prince Adjei and Julienne Afi Amezado, proudly represented their organization and showcased their skills in this historic tournament.

The Asantehene Open, first established in 1955 to honor the Asantehene, is a competition with a rich history, attracting some of the best golfers across the nation and beyond. Originally dominated by expatriates, it has since evolved into a premier platform that now celebrates and nurtures young Ghanaian talent.

Prince and Afi, accompanied by Fafali Organization’s CEO Senyo Sosu, Girls Empowerment Coordinator Ivy Theodore, and Senior Coach John Nyanu Kwashie, competed in the Championship Men’s and Championship Ladies’ categories, respectively. Both athletes were eager to embrace the challenge and gain invaluable experience from playing in such a prestigious setting.

Despite his hard work and strong play, Prince missed the cut on Day 2, which prevented him from advancing to the final day. He took this as a learning opportunity and displayed admirable determination and sportsmanship, gaining experience that will no doubt fuel his passion for improvement and future competitions.

Meanwhile, Afi shone brightly in the Championship Ladies’ category, capturing the prestigious title of Queen of Golf of the Ashanti Kingdom after two outstanding days on the course, scoring 87 on Day 1 and finishing with an impressive 82 on Day 2. Her crowning achievement at the awards ceremony held at the historic Manhyia Palace was a true moment of honor, especially as she received the award from His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a powerful inspiration for a young athlete.

The Fafali Golf & Goal Project, hosted at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, seeks to empower underserved youth by teaching the game of golf and nurturing personal development. Through this initiative, young golfers like Prince and Afi build qualities of resilience, discipline, and leadership, while also being encouraged to focus on their education, particularly in STEM fields.

The participation of Prince and Afi in the Asantehene Open speaks to the ongoing support of Fafali’s donors, sponsors, and the community of stakeholders who make these achievements possible. Their performances at this tournament are a testament to the impact that dedicated training and a strong support system can have on young talent. “To everyone who has been part of this journey and believed in the potential of these young athletes, we extend our heartfelt thanks,” said Fafali’s CEO, Senyo Sosu.

Looking ahead, both Prince and Afi are poised to compete in the upcoming Accra Open Tournament, where they aim to further build on their experiences. We extend our deepest gratitude to all supporters and to the Achimota Golf Club for providing a consistent training space for our athletes.

In many cultures, drumming is seen as a sacred art often reserved for men, with traditions barring women from participating. The Drum, Dance, and Dream Project in the Mino Tribe project boldly challenges these norms, empowering girls to learn the art of drumming and express themselves through sounds or beats, singings, and dance.

Coach Samuel Amezado, a traditional drummer, leads this groundbreaking project, dedicating two days a week to teaching over 30 girls how to play rhythms like Agbadza, Jara, Kpalogo, and more.. His dedication is not only breaking down cultural barriers but also creating a new generation of female drummers, empowered to claim spaces previously denied to them.

What a typical training session looks like for these girls

The project fosters gender equality by allowing girls to explore their talents in a domain that, for too long, has been male-dominated. By teaching them to drum and dance, the initiative opens doors for artistic expression, confidence-building, and breaking societal limitations.

This cause is deeply personal to me. During high school, I was fascinated by the different meanings drumming held for various occasions—whether for wake-up calls, meals, or gatherings. The rhythmic sounds intrigued me, and I was eager to learn their origins and how to play. However, when I approached the right people, I was told that girls weren’t allowed to drum. I cried over it, and despite several attempts to learn, I was continually turned away. On one occasion, I cornered the drummer, who told me, “I wish I could teach you, but tradition doesn’t allow it.” I was heartbroken and never got the chance.

That memory still aches. Every time I hear a drum, I recall the barriers placed before me simply because of my gender. But when I came to Fafali and saw girls learning to play drums, I was amazed. It rekindled my passion, and I became determined to help ensure more girls get the opportunity I was denied.

The Drum, Dance, and Dream Project is more than just an initiative; it’s a powerful step towards dismantling gender stereotypes. It provides girls with an outlet for creative expression, builds their self-confidence, and offers them the chance to break free from outdated traditions.

Now more than ever, we need your support. By investing in the Drum, Dance, and Dream Project, you help provide instruments, expand teaching resources, and create opportunities for girls to continue challenging gender norms through music and dance. Your contribution can ensure that no girl is turned away from her dream simply because of tradition.

Join us in breaking down barriers and creating a world where girls can freely express themselves through drumming and dancing. Help us turn heartache into empowerment, one beat at a time. Support the Fafali Drum, Dance, and Dream Project and be part of this transformative movement!

The Fafali Organization hosted its much-anticipated Parental Engagement Day on November 10, 2024, and it turned out to be one of our most successful events yet! With over 100 parents in attendance, the event was a dynamic blend of insightful discussions, testimonials, and meaningful interactions that showcased the importance of parental involvement in the success of the children we serve.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome and an overview of Fafali’s mission, emphasizing our commitment to empowering underprivileged children through education, sports, and community development. Parents were then treated to a panel discussion led by our dedicated project leaders, who shared impactful stories, highlighted the progress of their various programs, and shed light on how parental support plays a pivotal role in achieving our goals.

Some parents on the panel to discuss their understanding of Fafali Organization

Interactive Engagement and Parental Involvement
The session was made more vibrant with interpreters ensuring inclusivity for parents from diverse backgrounds. One of the highlights of the day was the two group discussions: one focused on gauging parents’ understanding of Fafali’s mission and the other showcasing testimonials from parents whose children have benefited immensely from our programs. These sessions created an open dialogue where parents shared ideas, experiences, and questions, strengthening the connection between families and Fafali Organization.

Several parents expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to understand Fafali’s work on a deeper level. “I didn’t fully realize how much this organization has been doing for our children. Hearing directly from the project leaders was eye-opening, and I now feel more empowered to support my child and Fafali,” said one parent.

Another parent added, “The testimonies from other parents and the detailed presentations by the leaders gave me a clear picture of what my child is learning and how these projects are shaping their future. I feel so proud to be part of this journey.”

Staff and Project leaders also sharing their insights on the various projects to the parents

A Call to Action
As part of the session, parents were encouraged to take an active role in supporting their children and the organization. From purchasing branded T-shirts and lacostes to investing in the various projects, parents were presented with practical ways to contribute to their children’s growth and the sustainability of Fafali’s initiatives.

A Vision for the Future
Speaking at the event, the Founder of Fafali Organization, Raymond Amezado, shared an inspiring message:
“This event marks a new chapter in our relationship with the parents of the children we serve. We believe that when parents are actively involved, the children thrive, and the community grows stronger. Today’s turnout and participation give us hope that we are on the right path, and together, we can build a brighter future for these young ones.”

Moving Forward
The Chief Operating Officer, Selase Atsriku, who led the presentations, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of keeping the momentum alive: “This has been one of the most successful engagements we’ve had with parents, and it’s a testament to the power of collaboration. We hope to continue hosting such events to ensure parents are actively involved in their children’s lives.”

As the day came to a close, there was a collective sense of purpose and renewed energy among parents, project leaders, and staff alike. The success of the Parental Engagement Day reaffirms Fafali’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for the children and their families.

Thank you to all the parents who attended and made this day memorable. Together, we can continue making an incredible impact in the lives of our children!

As the holiday season approaches, the Fafali Organization is excited to announce the launch of the 3rd Annual Dreams & Themes Christmas Project, a heartfelt initiative dedicated to providing joy, hope, and unforgettable experiences to underserved children in the Anumle Electoral Area. This year, our goal is to make the festive season special for over 800 children who might otherwise go without.

What is the Fafali Dreams & Themes Christmas Project?

The Dreams & Themes Christmas Project is a three-month initiative running from October to December, aimed at fostering community spirit and empowering children to take pride in their surroundings and in themselves. Through monthly clean-up exercises, philanthropy education seminars, and the much-anticipated Mega Christmas Party on December 22, we are bringing together children, volunteers, and community members to celebrate the spirit of giving and the power of community.

1. Environmental Sustainability: Monthly Clean-Up Exercises

Beginning in October, children from various programs, along with community members, participate in clean-up exercises across the Anumle Electoral Area. These monthly events, held on Saturdays, focus on waste collection, recycling education, and environmental stewardship, helping to foster a sense of responsibility toward the community and the environment. Upcoming clean-ups will be held in areas such as Kissehman, Christian Village, and Anumle, with participation from our Environmental Club, Ball & Brain Boys & Girls, and more.

2. Philanthropy Education Seminar: Empowering Future Changemakers

The second initiative of the project is the Philanthropy Education Seminar, held from November 25-29. Throughout this dedicated week, children from various programs will gather at our STEM & Literacy Lab for interactive discussions on the importance of giving back. Through real-life success stories from last year, including fundraising efforts for a sick coach and community clean-ups, participants will learn the impact of small acts of kindness and the importance of teamwork. These sessions are designed to inspire and empower our youth to become active, compassionate citizens.

3. Mega Christmas Party: Celebrating Joy and Togetherness

The grand finale of the Dreams & Themes Project is the Mega Christmas Party on December 22, a day dedicated to pure joy and celebration for over 800 underserved children. Hosted at the Kappa 7 Astroturf in the Anumle Electoral Area, this festive event will feature delicious meals, drinks, games, musical performances, and gifts to make each child’s Christmas unforgettable. For many of these children, this will be their only holiday celebration, and our goal is to give them memories they can cherish for years to come.

There’s no Christmas celebration without a time with Santa Claus

In partnership with the Vineyard Foundation, the Fafali Organization recently hosted the 4th Annual Teachers’ Education Summit—a significant event held in the heart of the Kpoviadzi community, located in the Central Tongu District of Ghana’s Volta Region. This year’s summit was especially meaningful, marking the first time the event was conducted outside of Accra, in the rural region where the Fafali Organization is actively engaged in multiple community development projects.

Barry E. Knighton (MSW) sharing insights with the teachers during the education summit

The summit brought together 50 teachers from across the Volta Region, who came together to explore ways to critically and collectively improve teaching and learning within their schools and communities. The event focused on fostering personal and professional growth through lifelong learning and Continuous Professional Development (CPD), recognizing that strong educators are the foundation for a thriving society. The theme of the summit, “Leadership in the Midst of Crisis,” resonated deeply, encouraging educators to harness their resilience and creativity to adapt and lead in challenging times.

Barry E. Knighton, MSW, and Minister Joshua Ross, Founder/President and Board Member of the Vineyard Foundation respectively, whose contributions have been instrumental in making this event a success, were present to engage with the teachers. Their involvement extended far beyond planning and coordination; their presence and dedication to empowering rural teachers made a profound impact. “Our goal is to support educators who are the backbone of every community,” said Barry Knighton. “This summit is a reminder of the incredible potential that each teacher holds to inspire and transform their students’ lives.”

Adding to the special atmosphere, each attending teacher received a surprise backpack filled with school supplies to support their work. The teachers’ responses were filled with joy and gratitude. “It’s not often we receive this kind of recognition and support,” shared one participant. “This backpack means more than just supplies—it’s a reminder that our work is valued.”

This year’s summit also included a significant cultural experience for Barry Knighton and Minister Joshua Ross, who were enshrined as “Torgbui” (Elders) within two local families. This honorary title was bestowed upon them in recognition of their dedication to the community and their commitment to empowering educators. “Being welcomed as family here in Kpoviadzi is a profound honor,” said Minister Joshua. “This community has taught us as much as we have shared, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.”

Raymond Amezado, Founder and President of the Fafali Organization, expressed his gratitude for the Vineyard Foundation’s partnership and the summit’s overall success. “This summit marks a new chapter for our initiatives in Kpoviadzi and beyond,” said Raymond. “We are here to empower not just students, but the teachers who mold their futures. Our goal is to continue supporting and inspiring these educators to be the best they can be.”

As the summit concluded, the collective spirit of the teachers, community leaders, and partners shone brightly. The Fafali Organization remains committed to continuing this annual tradition and expanding its reach in supporting rural educators through collaborative and impactful programs.

Thank you to the Vineyard Foundation, the dedicated educators, and everyone who made this summit a success. The journey to strengthening education in Ghana’s rural communities is one we proudly undertake together.

In a heartfelt evening of gratitude, the Fafali Organization, in partnership with the Vineyard Foundation, hosted the first-ever Teachers Appreciation Dinner for private school educators in the Anumle Electoral Area. This special event, held on October 17, 2024, at Jerremite International School, brought together over 50 teachers from five of our partner schools: Victoria Solid Foundation School, St. James Wisdom Preparatory School, Revere Foundation School, Jerremite International School, and Unity Baptist School. The event honored the commitment, dedication, and impact these educators have on the lives of their students and the community.

As the teachers and guests arrived, they were warmly greeted by vibrant performances from the young girls of our Drum, Dance & Dream Project. Their traditional renditions of Agbadza and Kpanlogo music set an uplifting tone for the evening and brought a touch of Ghanaian heritage to the celebration.

Following a welcome prayer led by Jerry Akunor, Fafali’s Founder and President, Raymond Amezado, introduced the evening’s program, sharing his appreciation for the teachers’ essential role in shaping the future. Minister Joshua Ross, Board Member of the Vineyard Foundation, extended warm greetings on behalf of the foundation, highlighting the special relationship between Fafali and the Vineyard Foundation and their shared mission to empower Ghanaian communities.

Barry E. Knighton, MSW, Founder and President of the Vineyard Foundation, spoke passionately about the evening’s purpose. “Teachers are often the silent heroes of our society,” he shared. “Their dedication is the foundation upon which our communities stand, and tonight, we celebrate each of you for the light you bring into the lives of our children.”

A delightful dinner was served, and as guests enjoyed their meals, they were treated to a lively comedy performance by local comedian Teekay, who brought laughter and joy to the crowd, making it a truly memorable night.

One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of certificates and backpacks filled with school supplies to each teacher, acknowledging their dedication and service to their schools. The gesture was met with immense appreciation from the teachers, who often work tirelessly with limited resources.

Reflecting on the night, one of the honorees remarked, “It’s a wonderful feeling to be appreciated in this way. We pour our hearts into teaching, and tonight, Fafali and the Vineyard Foundation reminded us that our efforts are seen and valued.”

Another teacher added, “The supplies in these backpacks will go a long way in supporting us in the classroom. We’re deeply grateful for this recognition and the ongoing support from Fafali and the Vineyard Foundation.”

The evening concluded with closing remarks and a prayer led by Minister Joshua Ross, reinforcing the spirit of unity and purpose shared by everyone present.

This inaugural Teachers Appreciation Dinner was a meaningful tribute to the teachers who play such a critical role in the development of Ghana’s youth. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Vineyard Foundation for their unwavering support in making this event possible. Together, we look forward to continuing this tradition, ensuring that educators in our community feel valued and motivated as they guide the next generation.

Stay tuned for more updates on our initiatives as we work to uplift and support our educators!

Working with the Dzidefo Girls Club at Fafali has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every week, I’m greeted by the sweetest little angels who have taught me so much about myself. From the very first day, they made an impression on me when they asked, “Please, aunty, what is your name?” Their genuine curiosity and care for learning about me was so heartwarming.

I sat alongside young girls during our Dzidefo Girls Leadership meeting

Preparing my first lesson for them, on self-love and journaling, was an emotional and humbling experience. This practice has had a profound impact on me since I was their age, and seeing how open and receptive they were made me incredibly happy. Their enthusiasm and engagement in the lesson filled me with joy. Each of their names carries a deep meaning, which only adds to the beauty of getting to know them.

Over these past two months, alongside my amazing volunteer friends Ivy and Lizzie, we’ve shared so many memorable moments. We’ve taught lessons on hygiene, conflict resolution, and held game days, singing and dancing competitions. The joy and laughter we’ve experienced together have created bonds and memories that will last a lifetime.

This was me leading a workshop on Goals

Fafali is truly a tremendous organization, and I’m so honored to be a part of it. Mr. Ray (Founder/President of Fafali Organization) has impacted so many lives through his leadership, and I am deeply grateful to contribute to such a meaningful cause. I cannot wait to continue this journey of teaching and learning with these incredible young girls.
