The Elfacares Foundation Organization is thrilled to announce that Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation (CMF) has become the first organization to sponsor our Dreams & Themes Christmas Project under the Funnest Sponsor category, contributing an incredible GHS 5,000 to make this year’s event unforgettable!

This milestone is particularly special as it marks the first time since the inception of the Dreams & Themes Christmas Project that a sponsor has taken up an official sponsorship category, setting a historic precedent for future partnerships.

But CMF’s generosity doesn’t stop there. After committing to the sponsorship, CMF has gone above and beyond by continuing to raise additional funds to support our Christmas Project, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to bringing joy and hope to underserved children this festive season.

Who is Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation?

Founded in July 2019, CMF is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to the memory of Charlotte, the late mother of the foundation’s founder. CMF is driven by a mission to promote gender equality and empower girls and women in Ghana through education, advocacy, and community development initiatives.

CMF’s Vision:
A society where girls and women in Ghana have equal opportunities, rights, and respect, and can reach their full potential.

Over the years, CMF has undertaken impactful projects, including the distribution of “Dignity Packs” to support girls in underserved areas, promoting reading habits through book drives, and providing skills training for young women to achieve financial independence. Their dedication to empowering communities and fostering growth aligns perfectly with the Elfacares Foundation Organization’s mission of transforming lives through education, sports, and community development.

Why This Sponsorship Matters

CMF’s generous support will bring joy to over 800 underserved children this Christmas, providing meals, drinks, gifts, and a festive experience they might not otherwise have. Their contribution demonstrates the power of partnerships and the extraordinary difference organizations can make when they come together to uplift communities.

By not only sponsoring but also continuing to raise additional funds, CMF has set a powerful example of what true partnership looks like—turning dreams into reality for hundreds of children.

A Partnership for the Future

Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation has long been a champion of transformative initiatives, and we are honored to have them as a key partner for this year’s Dreams & Themes Christmas Project. Their impactful work across the Central, Greater Accra, and Volta Regions continues to empower women and children, and this partnership is a testament to their commitment to creating a brighter future for underserved communities.

As CMF celebrates its 6th year of operations, we are proud to walk alongside them in this shared journey of impact and transformation.

Join Us in Thanking CMF

We invite you to join us in celebrating Charlotte’s Memorial Foundation for their incredible generosity and commitment to social change. Their partnership ensures that this year’s Christmas Project will leave a lasting mark on the lives of hundreds of children.

Let’s continue building on this momentum!

Together, we are creating a holiday season filled with hope, joy, and love.

Thank you, CMF, for believing in our vision and being a part of this meaningful journey!

In many cultures, drumming is seen as a sacred art often reserved for men, with traditions barring women from participating. The Drum, Dance, and Dream Project in the Mino Tribe project boldly challenges these norms, empowering girls to learn the art of drumming and express themselves through sounds or beats, singings, and dance.

Coach Samuel Amezado, a traditional drummer, leads this groundbreaking project, dedicating two days a week to teaching over 30 girls how to play rhythms like Agbadza, Jara, Kpalogo, and more.. His dedication is not only breaking down cultural barriers but also creating a new generation of female drummers, empowered to claim spaces previously denied to them.

What a typical training session looks like for these girls

The project fosters gender equality by allowing girls to explore their talents in a domain that, for too long, has been male-dominated. By teaching them to drum and dance, the initiative opens doors for artistic expression, confidence-building, and breaking societal limitations.

This cause is deeply personal to me. During high school, I was fascinated by the different meanings drumming held for various occasions—whether for wake-up calls, meals, or gatherings. The rhythmic sounds intrigued me, and I was eager to learn their origins and how to play. However, when I approached the right people, I was told that girls weren’t allowed to drum. I cried over it, and despite several attempts to learn, I was continually turned away. On one occasion, I cornered the drummer, who told me, “I wish I could teach you, but tradition doesn’t allow it.” I was heartbroken and never got the chance.

That memory still aches. Every time I hear a drum, I recall the barriers placed before me simply because of my gender. But when I came to Elfacares Foundation and saw girls learning to play drums, I was amazed. It rekindled my passion, and I became determined to help ensure more girls get the opportunity I was denied.

The Drum, Dance, and Dream Project is more than just an initiative; it’s a powerful step towards dismantling gender stereotypes. It provides girls with an outlet for creative expression, builds their self-confidence, and offers them the chance to break free from outdated traditions.

Now more than ever, we need your support. By investing in the Drum, Dance, and Dream Project, you help provide instruments, expand teaching resources, and create opportunities for girls to continue challenging gender norms through music and dance. Your contribution can ensure that no girl is turned away from her dream simply because of tradition.

Join us in breaking down barriers and creating a world where girls can freely express themselves through drumming and dancing. Help us turn heartache into empowerment, one beat at a time. Support the Elfacares Foundation Drum, Dance, and Dream Project and be part of this transformative movement!

As the holiday season approaches, the Elfacares Foundation Organization is excited to announce the launch of the 3rd Annual Dreams & Themes Christmas Project, a heartfelt initiative dedicated to providing joy, hope, and unforgettable experiences to underserved children in the Anumle Electoral Area. This year, our goal is to make the festive season special for over 800 children who might otherwise go without.

What is the Elfacares Foundation Dreams & Themes Christmas Project?

The Dreams & Themes Christmas Project is a three-month initiative running from October to December, aimed at fostering community spirit and empowering children to take pride in their surroundings and in themselves. Through monthly clean-up exercises, philanthropy education seminars, and the much-anticipated Mega Christmas Party on December 22, we are bringing together children, volunteers, and community members to celebrate the spirit of giving and the power of community.

1. Environmental Sustainability: Monthly Clean-Up Exercises

Beginning in October, children from various programs, along with community members, participate in clean-up exercises across the Anumle Electoral Area. These monthly events, held on Saturdays, focus on waste collection, recycling education, and environmental stewardship, helping to foster a sense of responsibility toward the community and the environment. Upcoming clean-ups will be held in areas such as Kissehman, Christian Village, and Anumle, with participation from our Environmental Club, Ball & Brain Boys & Girls, and more.

2. Philanthropy Education Seminar: Empowering Future Changemakers

The second initiative of the project is the Philanthropy Education Seminar, held from November 25-29. Throughout this dedicated week, children from various programs will gather at our STEM & Literacy Lab for interactive discussions on the importance of giving back. Through real-life success stories from last year, including fundraising efforts for a sick coach and community clean-ups, participants will learn the impact of small acts of kindness and the importance of teamwork. These sessions are designed to inspire and empower our youth to become active, compassionate citizens.

3. Mega Christmas Party: Celebrating Joy and Togetherness

The grand finale of the Dreams & Themes Project is the Mega Christmas Party on December 22, a day dedicated to pure joy and celebration for over 800 underserved children. Hosted at the Kappa 7 Astroturf in the Anumle Electoral Area, this festive event will feature delicious meals, drinks, games, musical performances, and gifts to make each child’s Christmas unforgettable. For many of these children, this will be their only holiday celebration, and our goal is to give them memories they can cherish for years to come.

There’s no Christmas celebration without a time with Santa Claus

How You Can Help

This project’s success relies on the generosity and support of people like you. Here’s how you can make a difference:

  1. Donate – For just $8 per child, you can help provide a meal, drink, and gift, bringing a smile to a child this holiday season. Every donation counts, whether it’s supporting one child or multiple.
  2. Volunteer – We welcome volunteers to join us on December 22 to help with food distribution, event activities, and gift-giving. Your presence will make the day extra special for these children.
  3. Sponsor – Businesses and individuals can partner with us by sponsoring meals, gifts, or specific activities during the Christmas event, gaining brand visibility and community recognition.

Working with the Dzidefo Girls Club at Elfacares Foundation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every week, I’m greeted by the sweetest little angels who have taught me so much about myself. From the very first day, they made an impression on me when they asked, “Please, aunty, what is your name?” Their genuine curiosity and care for learning about me was so heartwarming.

I sat alongside young girls during our Dzidefo Girls Leadership meeting

Preparing my first lesson for them, on self-love and journaling, was an emotional and humbling experience. This practice has had a profound impact on me since I was their age, and seeing how open and receptive they were made me incredibly happy. Their enthusiasm and engagement in the lesson filled me with joy. Each of their names carries a deep meaning, which only adds to the beauty of getting to know them.

Over these past two months, alongside my amazing volunteer friends Ivy and Lizzie, we’ve shared so many memorable moments. We’ve taught lessons on hygiene, conflict resolution, and held game days, singing and dancing competitions. The joy and laughter we’ve experienced together have created bonds and memories that will last a lifetime.

This was me leading a workshop on Goals

Elfacares Foundation is truly a tremendous organization, and I’m so honored to be a part of it. Mr. Ray (Founder/President of Elfacares Foundation Organization) has impacted so many lives through his leadership, and I am deeply grateful to contribute to such a meaningful cause. I cannot wait to continue this journey of teaching and learning with these incredible young girls.

Hi my name is Blaise I’m a 24 year old female from the UK. I work in the golf industry in the management sector. This is how I was introduced to the Elfacares Foundation Organization. Luckily enough for me my employer back at home has a charity called The Golf Trust which is a partner with Elfacares Foundation. Having only spent just over a week with the Elfacares Foundation Family I couldn’t feel more at home. I’m excited to see how the rest of my journey progresses.

My first week with Elfacares Foundation has been incredible. It will hold a special place in my heart forever. Of course every new experience comes with nerves and uncertainty however I’ve been lucky enough to have an incredible support system in the office and at home with my host family.

My first time attending a football training session

I’m extremely fortunate to be living in the local community which is only a short walk away from the office. My Host Family opened up their home with welcoming arms to ensure I felt safe and at home. My first week was jam packed. It was spent visiting multiple different projects and schools so I could familiarise myself with the community. These have included The Golf & Goal project, The Literacy Project, The Environmental Project, Football Training, Table Tennis, Fit4Fun and Drum Dance and Dream.

An emotional visit to Jeremite International School

I was fortunate enough to visit Jeremite International School with Barry and Joshua who are board members from The Vineyard Foundation for their Education and Entrepreneurial outreach program. The children gave presentations on business ideas they had created. It was emotional to say the very least. One girl understandably had a case of stage freight. I was able to give her a pep talk and of course a hug and she was able to return to class and finish her presentation with confidence.

Our Literacy students at Unity Baptist School

I’m becoming more passionate about The Literacy Project day by day. Our aim is to build the foundations for reading and writing. A skill which is essential for everyone across the world. We have a class of 10 pupils who we see three times a week. My fellow volunteers who have been here for slightly longer than myself have integrated educational games into the end of lessons, giving the children something to look forward to after completing their work. We conclude the lessons with stickers and a sweet treat!!

Our donation of golf balls to Achimota Golf Club

Hearing Elfacares Foundation has a Golf & Goal project resonated with me as golf is a huge part of my life. Golf isn’t just my job but also a hobby. The Golf & Goal Project has many benefits from physical, mental and social. I’m extremely passionate about “women in golf” in particular so I thought I had a chance to have a positive impact on the project. To my pleasant surprise when I visited the Golf&Goal Project I found it was thriving with an incredible number of young female golfers of a range of ages. I was given the opportunity to meet the Club Manager at Achimota Golf Club to donate golf balls. It felt like a full circle moment as those golf balls started their journey in the UK with me and The Golf Trust. They now were back in my hands being handed over to the club.

I’m honoured to say that recently a team of 5 junior golfers travelled to Nigeria for the 11th AWA Ibraheem Junior Open. They returned with 3 trophies with Ellen Amezado being crowned the new West African Junior Ladies Champion.

In my spare time since being here I have visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park where I was able to learn about the Ghanaian Nationalist Leader who led The Gold Coast(now known as Ghana) to independence. After this I spent the afternoon at Labadi Beach. We sat by the sea and enjoyed the entertainment which included singing, dancing& performances using fire! I then ended my weekend by visiting Empowerment Worship Centre with Cynthia from my host family for Sunday evening Church service.

Thank you to Elfacares Foundation and The Golf Trust for making this experience possible. Whilst I continue my life changing journey I look forward to creating new bonds, learning more about the culture, making a positive impact and seeing so much more that this beautiful country has to offer… oh and eating lots more joloff rice!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read. Stay tuned for my next blog post at the end of my journey!

Hello, my name is Sebastian, and I have spent the past month volunteering for Elfacares Foundation. It’s been an incredible experience, and I am thrilled that I will continue to work here for the next 10 months. So, let’s take a moment to revise on the past month together…

I arrived at Kotoka International Airport on the 25th of August, coming all the way from my hometown, Berlin, in Germany. It was a long flight, but I was filled with excitement the entire time. I’m here with the AFS program, which means I’m taking a gap year between finishing Senior High School and starting university. It’s quite a big step, but it felt like the right decision to make at this point in my life. As it’s my first time in Ghana, even the first drive through the city was an amazing experience for me. I found myself staring out of the window at everything that felt so new and different compared to what I’m used to in Germany. The cityscape, the colors, the street vendors – everything was just so vibrant and lively. During my first week here, I received an introduction to Ghana and Accra from the wonderful people at AFS, which helped me settle in and feel a lot more comfortable. They were very helpful and provided me with all the information I needed to start my journey here.

Time with students from the Literacy Class at Unity Baptist School

On Monday, a week after my arrival, I officially began my journey with Elfacares Foundation. It was a really exciting moment. It started with a two-week introduction, during which my fellow volunteer Jette, who is also from Germany, and I had the chance to visit all the different and diverse programs Elfacares Foundation offers for the children. I was genuinely amazed by the dedication and commitment so many people here show toward Elfacares Foundation’s great cause. It was inspiring to see how much effort and time people put into these programs. Even though I’m a volunteer here, I realized I am far from being the only one. There are so many individuals who make this organization what it is, and it’s a big collaboration.

While I enjoyed every program, there were a few that immediately resonated with me. Even before coming here, I had read a little on the website and already some projects caught my attention. I knew from the beginning that these would be the areas where I could have the biggest impact. Therefore, I was excited when I finally got to visit the Environmental Club. It’s one of my passions to teach and also learn about the environment and its impact on all our lives. It’s a topic that has always fascinated me, and I believe it’s something that we should learn.

The Environmental Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at the Elfacares Foundation classroom. While the lessons have been mostly theoretical so far, we have exciting plans for hands-on activities. We’ve already gained some experience by doing a cleanup exercise at Polo Beach Club, Labadi (which we could easily do 100 more times), but there are so many more experiences to come. So, stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to regularly check the blog on the website.

The other program I chose is the continuation of the Need2Read project, initiated by my predecessors, Jorin and Lilly. Reading is such an essential skill for everyone, and learning to read can be life changing. I’m grateful that we have not just one but two reading classes. The first one is in the morning at Unity Baptist School, with 10 wonderful kids. Jette and I have already conducted a few lessons with them, and I’m excited for many more to come. While learning is crucial, integrating it with fun and games is always best, so I’m eager to get creative and find some engaging reading games.

The other reading class is the “Brain” part of the “Ball & Brain Project.” We have recruited 10 kids from the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs, and we will be holding reading sessions with them every Monday and Friday afternoon, also at the Elfacares Foundation classroom.

Elfacares Foundation’s School Supply giveaways at the beginning of the new school year

While I truly enjoy my work at Elfacares Foundation, they go the extra mile to make my time in Ghana even more memorable. They organized the “Freiwilligen-Cup,” a big football match between the office team and all the German volunteers, which was a lot of fun!

Elfacares Foundation also has many special projects, like distributing school supplies to 400 children and the big End-of-Year project, which includes a Christmas party that’s already on the horizon.

Of course, my time here hasn’t always been easy. It’s a completely new lifestyle for me, and naturally, I miss home and my family a lot. It’s a big adjustment to be so far away, but I’m learning to adapt. I am fortunate to have a great support system, both at the office and with my amazing and incredibly welcoming host family. They have made me feel right at home here in Ghana, which I’m very grateful for. I’m constantly amazed by how warm and welcoming everyone is here, from the school kids who run toward us, hugging our legs and shouting “Oburoni,” to the Uber driver sharing his recommendations on must-visit places in Ghana. If things continue like this, a year may not even feel like enough time. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Freiwilligen Cup with both the German volunteers team and the Elfacares Foundation Office

I am very grateful that I embarked on this journey, which I know will be an incredible and eye-opening experience for me. It’s something which I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life. I’m looking forward to not only broaden my own horizons and engage in intercultural exchange here but also to serve as a guide and teacher to the many underserved children here who need one. I’m certain that I can make a lasting impact, no matter how small it may be.

Thank you for reading!

This report is based on the experience of leading the Elfacares Foundation Organization’s delegation to France, highlighting the significant cultural and educational impact of the event on the young participants.

Our young delegates well dressed to represent the richness of the Ghanaian heritage in France

Event Summary: I, Randy Edem Amezado, had the privilege of leading a delegation from the Elfacares Foundation Organization, Ghana, to an inter-cultural sports event in France organized by Sports Dans La Ville. Our delegation comprised five young people (two girls and three boys aged 15-17) and a young leader, a 25-year-old lady, making us a group of seven. This event saw the participation of 62 sports organizations from around the world and included attending the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Event Details: The Festival 24 event took place in both Lyon and Paris, France. The primary goals were to teach young kids about love, punctuality, the benefits of sports, and the importance of responsibility and appreciation of one’s origins. The event was guided by Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship.

Activities in Lyon: The festival kicked off with integrating 600 kids from diverse backgrounds into four color groups. This mixing aimed to foster interaction and friendship rather than competition. Activities were designed around the Olympic values and led by young leaders to prepare them for future responsibilities.

In Lyon, we spent most of our days at the Sports Dans La Ville campus, which featured a multi-purpose sports center. The young participants engaged in various sports activities, Olympic and Paralympic events, and enjoyed cultural performances. Our Ghanaian delegation showcased traditional attire and performed “jama” or “kpalongo” involving clapping, singing, and drumming. Evenings were spent at our hostel, ensuring the children’s well-being.

Time with other delegates from Germany to further strengthen the Ghana/German bond

Transition to Paris: After four days in Lyon, we embarked on a 4-5 hour bus journey to Paris, where we stayed in tents at a campsite in Jambville. This setting offered a beautiful natural environment. The sports activities continued, emphasizing bonding and making new friends. We also visited an amusement park and attended a meet-and-greet forum with global foundations to share ideas and seek support.

Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony: A significant highlight was attending the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This once-in-a-lifetime experience was thrilling for everyone, especially the young delegates. The ceremony was a blend of excitement, culture, and global unity.

Concluding Activities and Cultural Performances: The final day in Paris was packed with sports activities and cultural performances, concluding with a spectacular fireworks display. The entire event fostered a sense of global community, with young participants forming lasting friendships and experiencing immense personal growth.

Impact and Reflection: The inter-cultural sports event left an indelible impact on all participants. The experience fostered international friendships, cultural appreciation, and personal development. The memories and lessons learned will be cherished and passed down for generations.

The journey to the Paris 2024 Olympics was a dream for many in the Elfacares Foundation Organization, but dreams often require catalysts to become reality. For us, that catalyst was Pascal Haag. What began as a presentation turned into a collaborative effort that would forever change the lives of our young delegates.

It all started when Randy Amezado, one of the delegates and the leader of our team, decided to pitch the idea of attending the Olympics to Pascal. “I knew this opportunity was huge,” Randy recalls. “But I also knew that without support, it would remain just an idea. I needed someone who believed in the vision as much as I did.”

Randy prepared a detailed PowerPoint presentation, outlining not only the logistics but also the profound impact this experience would have on the children from the Anumle and Kpoviadzi Electoral Areas. Pascal was immediately moved. “The moment I saw the presentation, I knew I had to get involved,” Pascal says. “It wasn’t just about attending the Olympics; it was about giving these kids an experience that would inspire them for life.”

Pascal’s publication in a newspaper back home in Germany to solicit for funds for the France trip

Pascal’s involvement went beyond moral support. He took on the task of creating a GoFundMe page to raise the necessary funds for visa applications, travel expenses, and more. “I was amazed at how quickly people responded,” Pascal says. “It showed me that when you present a genuine cause, people are willing to help. Every donation felt like a small victory.”

A little background on who Pascal Haag is before we proceed. As a twist to this write-up, we had Pascal introduce himself.

“I am Pascal Haag from Erwitte, in the west of Germany. I am 19 years old Right now. My Mission in Ghana was to learn about culture and to have an Impact on the lives of other People (same as you Guys had on me!).”

Pascal was a German volunteer who came to Ghana through AFS Ghana, our partners who have been sending volunteers our way since the summer of 2022. Although Pascal wasn’t directly volunteering with the Elfacares Foundation Organization, he became fond of our initiatives through his interactions with our staff and volunteers at various social gatherings and events. Pascal even took on the role of “Santa Claus” at our annual Elfacares Foundation Dreams & Themes End-of-Year Christmas Project, and he has remained connected with our organization ever since.

Through Pascal’s tireless efforts, we were able to secure the funds needed. His dedication didn’t stop at fundraising; he was constantly in touch, offering advice and moral support to the delegation. “Pascal became more than just a supporter; he was part of the team,” Randy adds. “His belief in us gave us the confidence to push through the challenges.”

This journey could not have been possible without Pascal Haag’s commitment and belief in the power of giving. His actions have left a lasting impact on the Elfacares Foundation Organization and the children who had the opportunity to witness a world far beyond their own.

At Elfacares Foundation Organization, we believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to dream big and experience the world beyond their immediate environment. This belief was the driving force behind our efforts to send a delegation of young people from Ghana to France for the Festival 24, an inter-cultural sports event organized by Sports Dans La Ville, alongside the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The opportunity to participate in such a prestigious event was monumental for our children, but the road to making it happen was anything but easy. The reality is that we were the organization that received a late invite to this event. With a rigorous fundraising goal ahead of us, we knew the journey would require dedication, perseverance, and the undying support of our community.

The Struggle to Raise Funds

Securing funds for this trip was a challenging endeavor. We had to raise $12,000, a significant amount to cover airfares and other expenses for the seven delegates, as accommodation and feeding had already been catered for by the organizers. Despite the odds, we were determined to give these children a chance to be part of something truly historic—the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the first time the event would be held in Paris in 100 years.

We reached out to individuals, businesses, and organizations for support. We launched online fundraising campaigns, organized community outreaches, and appealed to social media influencers to help spread the word. Each donation, no matter the amount, brought us one step closer to our goal. The journey was filled with anxiety and moments of doubt, but the unwavering belief in our cause kept us moving forward.

The Delegation

Our delegation initially comprised eight members, including six young participants and two adult leaders. However, as we approached the final stages of preparation, we faced an unexpected challenge: one of our young delegates was denied a visa. This was a heartbreaking moment for the delegate and the entire team. The disappointment was palpable, but we rallied together to support the young participant and ensure that the remaining seven delegates could still embark on this life-changing journey. Their perseverance and resilience in the face of such setbacks exemplified the spirit of our organization.

Pascal Haag: A Key Supporter and Advocate

The success of this trip would not have been possible without the invaluable support of Pascal Haag. Randy Amezado, one of the delegates and the leader of the delegation, was the visionary behind this opportunity. He saw the immense potential of this trip to impact the thousands of children in the Anumle and Kpoviadzi Electoral Areas of Ghana. Recognizing the need for substantial support, Randy reached out to Pascal Haag with a compelling PowerPoint presentation, illustrating what this trip could mean for the children we serve.

Pascal was deeply moved by the vision and the potential impact. He immediately bought into the idea and took it upon himself to help make this dream a reality. Pascal created a GoFundMe page, which became instrumental in raising the necessary funds for visa application fees and continued to support the entire journey. His dedication and belief in the cause inspired others to contribute, and his efforts were crucial in ensuring that the delegation could embark on this transformative experience.

The Community’s Role

The response from our community was overwhelming. Donations came in from local businesses, international supporters, and even from young individuals who were moved by our cause. One such inspiring donation came from a young girl in our community who contributed $100—an extraordinary gesture that highlighted the impact of collective effort.

As the departure date approached, we were still short of our fundraising target, but the determination of our team and the generosity of our supporters helped us close the gap. On the day of departure, we knew that our community had made this dream a reality for these young delegates.

The struggle to raise funds was a testament to the power of community and the belief in creating opportunities for the underserved. The journey was tough, but the reward was immeasurable. Our young delegates now have memories and experiences that will shape their futures and the futures of those around them.

This experience has reaffirmed our commitment to empowering children and providing them with platforms to explore, grow, and thrive. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported this cause, and we look forward to sharing more stories of the impact your contributions have made.

In June 2024, Elfacares Foundation Organization was privileged to welcome 17-year-old Alleyah Qureshi from New York City. Alleyah’s journey to Ghana began with her research into organizations in Africa making a significant impact on underserved children, leading her to identify Elfacares Foundation as a standout. Determined to make a difference even before setting foot in Ghana, Alleyah established a club at her high school in New York City to collect essential school supplies and children’s football clothing and accessories, knowing that football is Ghana’s most beloved sport. Her efforts culminated in filling four massive suitcases with donations, which she brought with her to Ghana.

Accompanied by her mother, Alleyah spent three transformative weeks volunteering with Elfacares Foundation. Her mornings and afternoons were dedicated to teaching and engaging with children at two of our partner schools. In the afternoons, Alleyah’s enthusiasm and energy continued as she led or participated in various Elfacares Foundation-created after-school activities, including boys’ football and Fit 4 Fun. Demonstrating her diverse talents, she established an after-school gymnastics program, complete with a fold-up balance beam she brought from the U.S. This initiative provided 15 kids with an introduction to gymnastics, culminating in a friendly competition that thrilled the participants.

Raymond Amezado, the Founder of Elfacares Foundation Organization shared that “Alleyah’s dedication and passion were evident in every project she took on. Her presence brought an infectious energy that inspired both students and staff alike. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and the lasting impact she has made on our community.” He also added “her gymnastics program and her support for our after-school activities have left an indelible mark on the children as this was something new to them.

Alleyah’s Thursdays were marked by active participation in inter-school football matches, where she even scored a goal in her first game, much to the delight of the children and the community. Her dedication extended beyond sports and education; she generously donated school supplies and everyday classroom needs to the various community partner schools she worked with, significantly enhancing the learning environment.

Alleyah’s enthusiasm and commitment were truly remarkable. She connected with our students in a way that made learning fun and engaging,” shared Stanley Teye, the Headteacher of Victoria Solid Foundation School.

Alleyah’s impact was not limited to the classroom or the football field. She also supported our after-school Happy Art Club project by purchasing art materials, enriching the creative experience for all participants.

As we bid farewell to Alleyah, we do so with both a heavy heart and deep appreciation. Her selfless dedication, passion, and the love she shared have left an indelible mark on our hearts and in the lives of those she touched. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and look forward to continuing our partnership with her even as she returns to New York.

Thank you, Alleyah, for choosing Elfacares Foundation. Your efforts have made a significant difference, and we hope our paths cross again in the future.
